Eligibility
Eligibility for substitute teaching begins with a Bachelor's degree or higher.
(OR We can work with you to find a degree completion program that's a good fit AND you can join our uncredentialed substitute pool immediately).

Contact one of our career counselors at EFC by emailing jobs@efcps.net and we will put you in contact with the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) to start the 30-day Substitute Permit process.

Meet the basic skills requirement:

Take the CBEST test,

Have passing SAT or ACT scores,

Or let us evaluate your transcripts to see if you meet this requirement via coursework.

Apply to the Commission for a 30-day Substitute Permit via ACOE

You will be invited to a short interview via phone with one of our hiring assistants and should you advance, receive a contract to begin subbing.
